I plunge my tongue into her, kissing her like I need her to live. She puts her hands onto my chest and circles her fingers around my nipples. Next thing I know, she grabs both of them and twists, hard. “What the fuck, Nic?”

“Do you really think that you can come in here and just expect to have your way with me after that shit in there?” This girl was absolutely fucking nuts, and I love it. I walk closer to her again and back her against the tile wall. “You need to just—”

I clamp my hand over her mouth so I can get a word in. “Will you just let me talk for a fucking minute?” I am so close to her I can feel her heart racing. She nods her head yes and I remove my hand.

I put both of my hands on the sides of her face and rest my forehead against hers. She places both of her hands on my hips and we just stare at each other, with the shower pouring over both of us.

“I get why you’re pissed, trust me, I do. You need to know, though, that the girl I was with didn’t matter. I didn’t even remember her name by the end of the date and nothing happened between us. I went out with her to get you out of my head. You’re always there, Nic. No matter what I do, you’re always there. I know I’m not good for you, but I really don’t know how much longer I can stay away. You make me so fucking crazy, but the truth is that I can’t get enough of it. I—”

This time it is her who attacks my mouth. She wraps her hands around my neck and I instinctively brace my hands against the wall. The next thing I know, her legs are wrapped around my waist and I am so close to her pussy I can feel it throbbing. I love how bad she wants me and that she isn’t afraid to show it.

“Jason, I need you. I want you, now.”

That is all that she needs to say. I pull back a little, and then slam myself into her. “Fuck!”

I am pounding into her so hard, and from the sounds of it, she is loving it. Nicole is the only one who can do this to me. I know she is close because she starts digging her nails into my back. When she comes, she screams my name and that, along with the fact that her pussy is squeezing my dick, sends me over the top.

We stand there panting and holding each other for a few minutes before we let go and start to get washed.

  Nicole

I can’t believe he had the nerve to come into the shower and do that! Although, I’m not going to lie and say that I didn’t enjoy it. I don’t know what it was about him, but when he’s that close to me it is like my brain goes to mush. He is the most frustrating man I have ever met and I think I am falling for him. God, I am an idiot.

We go to my room after and lie down, both of us spent from everything that has happened. “Nic, do you want me to go out on the couch?”

“Well, considering you just manhandled me in the shower, I think it’s safe to say I don’t mind sharing a bed with you.” He laughs and wraps his arm around me, pulling me to his chest.

  “You tired?”

I am, but I have Jason to myself and he seems like he is in a talking mood. I am not about to give that up. “Not really. You wanna talk a little bit?” Please say yes!

  “Sure, I guess.”

All right, there is no reason to dance around it. “Why are you so against commitment?”

“Damn, you went right in for the kill.” He takes a deep breath and pulls me closer to him. “All right, I guess at this point I might as well just get it out there. When I was younger, my sister died in a car accident. I guess my mom kind of freaked out. When my dad and I were out of the house one day, she just left. No note, no goodbye, nothing. She was just gone. My dad says it’s ‘cause she couldn’t stand the sight of us anymore. Ever since then, I have been determined not to let anyone get close. The less people I let in, the less of a chance I have of getting hurt.” His voice is so cold and detached.

I look up at him and he has his eyes closed. I can tell this isn’t something that is easy for him.

“You are the only girl I have ever met that has been able to get under my skin and make me want more. It scares the shit out of me. That’s why I have been so reluctant with you. I don’t want to let you in, but at this point, I don’t know if I have much of a choice.”

“Jason, I know that it must have been so hard on you, having your mom leave. You have to know, though, that it wasn’t your fault. You were an innocent bystander in a shitty situation. I’m not just going to up and leave without a goodbye. I have been waiting for you to come to your senses since New Year’s.”

He leans down, kisses me and we lie there in each other’s arms for the rest of the night. I couldn’t help but to be worried as I fall asleep that when I wake up everything will change once again.

  Chapter Four

  Nicole

When I wake up in the morning, I am still in Jason’s arms, surprisingly. I am so used to him sneaking out before I wake up. Last night seemed different, though. I feel like we are finally getting somewhere. This is the first time I have woken up before him, so I take this chance to really look at him. He is gorgeous.

He has dark brown hair that is on the shorter side, but definitely not buzzed. When I can see his eyes they are mesmerizing, they remind me of one of those chocolate fountains.

I feel his arms tighten around me and he opens his eyes. “Hey.” I can tell he is uncomfortable and that ‘hey’ is the best I am getting right now.

“Hey, J, I am just about to shower and head out for the day.”

“Um…yeah, I guess so.” He seems uneasy and I wonder if maybe I should back off.

I know, at this point, he is starting to mentally freak out. For me it feels normal, but for him I know that it is anything but that. I understand he has issues, but my god, this is exhausting. After we both shower, we head to lunch and meet Carter and Maddy. Jason seems to relax after it isn’t just the two of us anymore.

“So, Jason, what are your plans this summer?” Maddy asks him.

“I…uh…I’m actually gonna be heading home today. I just wanted to say goodbye to you guys. Do you want me to take you back home after lunch so you can get your car, Nic?”

He turns to me expecting an answer, but at this point, I can’t form words. I nod my head at him. He is leaving? I thought I made some progress with him, but I guess not. He is running home like a little child. Every time I think that I get somewhere with him, we take five steps back; this whole relationship is pointless.

We eat lunch without saying another word to each other. At the end of the meal everyone seems thankful for the awkwardness to be ending. We say goodbye to Maddy and Carter, then make our way out to Jason’s car. Once we are in and buckled, I turn to him and punch him right in the arm.

  “Shit! What the hell, Nicole?!”

“You’re leaving? No explanation, no it was nice seeing you, no warning? Ugh!” I can’t help myself and I punch him again.

“Stop fucking hitting me!” He pulls out of the parking lot, turns the radio up loud, and starts the drive toward my house.

We are almost at my house and he still hasn’t said two fucking words to me. The most communication I’ve had was him turning on the Nickelback song Something In Your Mouth, and giving me a look. He is out of his damn mind if he thinks I would let him touch me. I am done being his little plaything.

I turn the radio off and face him. “Just so you know, I will not wait around for you, Jason. You either talk to me now, or understand that this is done. I refuse to let you use me anymore.”

I am dreading his response. Especially since we are pulling into my driveway now. He stops the car and doesn’t even turn to look at me. This is fucking ridiculous!

“You know what, J, I am so sick of your little bad boy act! Fyi, being a dickhead doesn’t make you a bad boy, it just makes you a dickhead!” I throw the door open and turn around to look at him one last time. “Oh, and last time I checked, bad boys drove motorcycles, not fucking Toyota Corollas!” I slammed the door and hurried into the house before he could see me break down.

Of course my stepmother, the wicked witch, has to be he
re when I walk in. “Boy problems, Nicole?” She smirks at me and I hate that she caught me like this. I swear the bitch lives to see me suffer.

“Shut up, Barbie.” I push past her and head straight for my room. God, I hate her so much. My dad married her about two years ago. She puts on a show in front of him, as if she wants to be my friend, but she isn’t fooling anyone.

I start packing my bag; I need to get out of here. I texted Maddy on my way in to see if I could stay with her and Carter but I hate feeling like a burden. I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket and pull it out, praying for good news. I see it is Mads and breathe a sigh of relief.

Mads: Hey, Nic, I’m sorry about Jason. I have a proposition for you, though…

Nic: Proposition? Damn, girl, you get tired of Carter already? ;-)

Mads: Definitely not! Carter’s sister Holly and her friend Christen are moving into a three-bedroom house. They are looking for another roommate and asked me if I knew of any girls who might be interested…

Nic: When can I move in?

I can’t wait to get out of here. I love my father, but spending the summer with the Barbie troll from hell was just not appealing to me.

Mads: They are moving in next week! You could always stay with us till then…

  Nic: Sounds amazing! Leaving now!

I wish things would have ended differently with Jason and me, but I can’t focus on that. For once, I need to focus on me.

Jason Smith can go screw himself.

  Jason

The drive home is like torture. I usually love the peace and quiet, but right now it is haunting me. I know I was wrong for running, but it was done now. When I woke up with Nicole this morning, it all hit me like a brick. I just need some time and some space to be able to breathe.

I knew Nicole had thought after last night that we were together, but I can’t do that right now. If I stayed, I wouldn’t be able to control myself. She is like a magnet for me and that is dangerous.

We have definitely grown closer over the past couple days. I opened up to her about my mom, which was not easy. She ended up telling me a little bit about her family too. I feel myself growing attached and that is what made me leave.

I hate that I hurt her today, and as much she may think it, I didn’t walk away injury free. I love how sweet she can be one minute and then a switch flips and she is so sexy and feisty. That girl can really throw a punch. I know that I’ll have to deal with the way I left things when I get back, but for now I will just hang out, get a summer job, and try to forget the girl that haunts me every time I close my eyes.

  Chapter Five

  Jason

This summer has been the most uneventful yet. I worked my ass off, so I could have extra cash for the year. I tried to go out with girls here and there, but nothing feels right anymore. I remember Carter talking to me about this kind of feeling last year and I thought that he was fucking crazy.

Every time I talked to Maddy and Carter, I have avoided the topic of Nicole. I was scared they were going to tell me that she had moved on.

Tonight, Nicole, Holly, and Christen are having a back-to-school party at their house. I am going, although I don’t know how it is going to feel seeing Nicole again. I am still undecided about our relationship if you would even call it that, but I have missed her so much.

I have to admit that I’m nervous she won’t be alone. She told me when I left last time that she wouldn’t wait around for me. I don’t really know how I’ll react if I get there and she is with someone else. All I know was that if she is, it is gonna kill me.

  Nicole

I can’t believe school is starting in a couple of days. This summer has gone by so fast. I have missed Jason so much and Carter has been sneaking me updates here and there. I haven’t been interested in finding a new guy, although that might have been the smart decision.

It seems like every time I try to talk to a guy, I lose interest. I know that my infatuation with Jason is only hurting me, but I can’t stop myself from wishing that things were different.

I am on campus today to sign up for the play this semester and meet one of my friends. I see him walking across the campus in his tight pink polo and bright blue khaki pants. That boy and his fashion choices astound me.

  “Hey, Jamie!”

He looks up and smiles when he sees me. Jamie was in one of my acting classes last semester and I love him; he is so outrageous and funny. He is going to be the perfect person to help me get to Jason and make him snap out of it.

“Hey, hot stuff! What’s going on, mama?” His arms wrap around me and give me a huge hug.

“Listen, I need a huge favor if you’re up for it.”

“All right, well, let’s go grab lunch and you can tell me all about it.”

We go to eat at the coffee shop where Mads is working. Once we order and get our stuff, we head over to one of the booths. “Okay, spill, girl.”

“So, you know Jason Smith, right?”

“Ugh! Do I know him? That man could melt my panties in a minute with just one of those brooding looks.” He fans himself as his tongue drapes out of his mouth.

I choke a little on my coffee and have to catch my breath. “Well, we have kind of been hooking up.” I see Jamie’s mouth drop open. “We both want more, but he is scared to make an actual commitment. I feel like, at this point, I need to give him a little push. So I have an idea. We are having a back to school party at my house tonight and I want you to be my date.”

“Your date? Girl, you do remember that I’m—” His face lights up like a Christmas tree when he realizes what I’m suggesting. “Oh! This is going to be so much fun, bitch! You better put on something sexy for me. I like a lot of skin.” He winks at me and now I couldn’t be more excited for tonight.

  * * *

“Damn, girl! You look bomb!” Christen is standing in my doorway and laughing. “This outfit wouldn’t have anything to do with a certain bad boy who is coming back tonight, would it?”

I laugh at her as I slip into my heels. Christen, Holly, and I have been getting along great since we moved in together. They are your typical gorgeous blondes, except Holly’s hair is long where Christen’s is more shoulder length.

The dress I have on tonight is bright red, the straps tied around my neck. I loved this feature because it seems to make my boobs look at least a couple of cup sizes bigger. It dips down low in the back, coming to a stop just above my butt and it is short enough to show off my legs that Jason always said he loved.

“If you must know, I have a plan tonight.”

  “Oh, really?”

I hear the doorbell ring and start to get excited. “Let the games begin, girl.”

When I go downstairs, I see Carter, Mads, and Jason. He looks sexy in his low-slung jeans and tight t-shirt. I hope this works tonight because I miss him and his incredible body. When he looks up at me, I can see the sharp inhale of breath he takes. Christen leans down to whisper in my ear, “I hope you brought the boy oxygen, girl.”

I give everyone a hug and notice that Jason seems almost reluctant to let go; tonight will be a piece of cake. The awkward silence between us all is deafening in the living room. When the doorbell rings again, I have a feeling it will be Jamie. I answer it and can’t believe my eyes. He is dressed in a tight black t-shirt and faded jeans. He looks so different, and when he sees me, he winks. He walks in, scoops me up in a hug, spins me around, and plants a kiss right on my lips. I swear to God, I think I hear Jason growl behind me. When I turn around to introduce him to everyone, Jason is fuming.

“Everyone, I want you to meet Jamie. Jamie this is everyone. Jamie and I have started dating!” I know I’m stating the obvious, I just want to hammer it home for the caveman in the corner.

The faces of everyone around the room are priceless. Christen, Holly, and Mads all have smirks on their faces, because they know exactly who Jamie is. Carter’s mouth is hanging open in surprise¸ and Jason looks murderous. I love this plan!

; Jamie is standing behind me with his arms around me. He leans down so his chin is resting on my shoulder. “How about we go get a drink, gorgeous?”

“Sure, babe. Come on.” Once we get into the kitchen, Jamie and I bust out laughing. I lean in to whisper to him so that Jason can’t hear us. “Did you see his face? I thought he was going to blow a blood vessel!”

“You look damn sexy tonight, girl! If this doesn’t do the trick, I don’t know what will!”

We get our drinks and go to sit on the couch. I am just about to sit next to Jamie, when he pulls me down onto his lap. I lean down to his ear. “You’re a very bad boy.” We laugh and I feel my hairs stand up at the back of my neck.

I look across the room and see Jason. He looks like he is barely able to keep it together. Mads comes over and sits next to us, while J storms off to the kitchen. “What the hell are you two trying to do, give the poor guy a heart attack?”

Jamie and I start to laugh, but that dies down once Jason walks back in the room. “What can I say, Mads? Jamie is just amazing.” Jason throws himself into the La-Z-Boy and slams his beer on the end table. I really don’t know how much more he can take, but I am interested to see. “Hey, babe? Do you wanna just stay here with me tonight?”

Jamie squeezes my hips and I let out a squeal. “Mmmm, that sounds good, babe.”

I lean down and give him a peck on the lips. “I’m gonna run to the bathroom. I’ll be back.”

I walk upstairs, through my room, and into the bathroom. When I look in the mirror, I laugh at the huge grin that is on my face. It is only a matter of time, at this point. I’ll have him by the end of the night. I walk out of the bathroom to find Jason standing right in front of me. He is breathing heavily and staring at me like he doesn’t know whether to scream at me or rip my clothes off.
